Multi international award-winning Goosnargh Gin is lovingly crafted by us, Richard and Rachel Trenchard, at our working distillery based at the foot of Beacon Fell.

Being situated on the edge of the Forest of Bowland Natural Landscape (Formerly AONBs) in the parish of Goosnargh, Lancashire, we are immersed in the inspiration for our spirits.

TELLING OUR STORY CHAPTER BY CHAPTER

After varied careers in the journalism and education sectors for more than 20 years, we founded Goosnargh Gin together in January 2018. This was built on a long held passion for true small batch production and quality ingredients.

This step allowed us to take more than a decade of amassed knowledge in the field, to forge our own path as producers and tell our story.

Living and working in the area, we are surrounded by the inspiration for our range of gins, from the diverse botanicals, to the spectacular geography and rich heritage of the area.

We were delighted to achieve our first award, a Gold for our Chapter One Signature Gin, in the prestigious International Wine and Spirit Competition in 2019.

We have since gone on to be awarded further local, national and International accolades over the years. These are not only testament to the consistent high quality of our products, but also the immersive experiences we offer to our guests.

All our gins are Chapters and each has a unique profile and part to play in telling our story.

Identifying each gin as a Chapter of our story is also a nod to Richard’s background in journalism and writing. Why not join us at gin school and create your very own story with us

Our gins are distilled by us in small batches, using our bespoke copper pot still named Bea. We personally develop all our own recipes in-house and insist on using the highest quality botanicals which are either foraged, expertly grown for us or ethically and sustainably sourced from top quality suppliers.

Once we have the blend of botanicals absolutely right they are macerated, then Bea is then set to work distilling our small batch gin ready for preparing for bottling and hand labelling.

All bottles are hand finished by us, including handwritten details.

CHAMPIONING & CELEBRATING INDEPENDENCE

At Goosnargh Gin we are fiercely independent. This means you will never see our products being sold through mass-market routes or being served through national chains. Our carefully selected retailer stockists are independent businesses who share our passion for quality and embrace our strong ethos and values.

This decision is at the core of what we do and ensures we are offering a real point of difference to our customers, retailer stockists, and on-trade partners.

THE STORY CONTINUES…

In May 2024 Goosnargh Gin’s little sister ‘Trough’ launched at Chew’s Yard in Preston. It has always been an ambition of ours to evolve our ethos and values of provenance, true craftsmanship and independence into a food and drink venture, focused on showcasing exceptional produce; and Trough is doing just that. Chew’s Yard is an exciting, unique food and drink venue and event space, enveloped by a hidden walled courtyard garden, right in the city centre of Preston.

As well as serving our gins, spritzes and bespoke cocktails, we also have a food menu which champions outstanding local, northern and independent producers and suppliers. Further developments for Trough are well under way.

2025 saw the introduction of our Trough at the Distillery experiences, including our immersive workshop series, collaborating with exceptional local artists and creatives.

Thank you for joining our story and supporting independent producers.

Best wishes,

Richard and Rachel
